Professional Transportation Summary

Throughout his career, Alderman Bauman has been an advocate for improved and expanded public transportation and improved land use planning in Milwaukee, southeastern Wisconsin, and nationwide. As one of the foremost transportation experts in SE Wisconsin, he was instrumental in the development of the Milwaukee Streetcar “The Hop” which began service in 2018, and played a major role in the development of the Milwaukee Intermodal Station and Milwaukee County’s East-West Bus Rapid Transit line which began service in 2023.

He has been a strong advocate for improved and expanded intercity and commuter rail service in southeastern Wisconsin with a particular focus on Amtrak’s Hiawatha service and the proposed KRM commuter rail service. His advocacy and successes have resulted in numerous distinctions, including serving as a panelist for the C-SPAN production: “Priorities for the Next Transportation Authorization Bill” at the 2014 American Public Transportation Association Transportation Policy Conference. RELEVANT NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT

  • C-SPAN panel at American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Transportation Policy Conference: Priorities for the Next Transportation Authorization Bill

This panel was part of the 2014 American Public Transportation Association day-long legislative conference on transportation-related topics, including funding, investments, and public transit. State and local public transportation leaders from Milwaukee, Tucson, and Washington, D.C., talked about priorities for the next transportation authorization bill. They discussed state and local projects, and laid out the challenges of involving policy and funding.
